JOE LOUIS: An American Romance
From January 25th 2011 to February 20th 2011
Born into an Alabama sharecropping family, Joe Louis reigned as heavyweight boxing champion of the world for 12 years and was one of the most important black public figures in American history.
Embraced as a super hero by millions, Joe was also dismissed as a flawed human and inadequate icon by others.
Did he alter the course of American history, or was he a gifted but selfish human being seduced by the hedonistic lure of stardom?
