Write-on-Q Playwriting Competition

Montréal, June 2021 - Québec playwrights and Indigenous writers from across NorthAmerica are eligible to enter Write-on-Q.Each year, Infinithéâtre organizes a playwriting competition, with a submission deadline onthe first Tuesday after Labour Day. Infinithéâtre receives innovative and exciting new playsfrom a wide array of talented playwrights and theatre creators.From Artistic Director Zach Fraser: “We’re thirsty to discover new writing that speaks to thisimportant time in which we’re all being asked to open our minds and our hearts, to dialogue,to listen, to empathize. We’re seeking art that marvels, that tackles complex issues and thatinspires love.”This year’s competition is presented in partnership with the Caisse Desjardins de la Culture.The winner of Write-on-Q will be awarded a cash prize of $3000 and will be featured as partof The Pipeline, our annual free public reading series. Each Pipeline reading is followed bytalk-backs, allowing the audience and creative team an in-depth exchange around thestructure and themes of the play. These discussions provide valuable feedback for script development and future programming.A short list of 5-10 finalists will be announced in mid-October with the winner being announced mid-November.Digital copies of scripts are preferred; however, we will still be accepting hard copies. Please submit your script with CV and cover letter digitally as a PDF, or as a hard copy, no later than September 7th, 2021 to submissions@infinitheatre.com.

The-Write-Stuff Winners Announced

Infinithéâtre is thrilled to announce the winners of The-Write-Stuff, our first annual playwriting competition for youth. Submissions were received from over a dozen educational institutions all around Québec and ranged in age from 12-18, and the variety of topics and styles were as unique and different as one might expect from our unique, multi-cultural belle province.
